Big Bass Bonanza: A Simple Game That Earned Its Spot On My Phone

I did not expect much from Big Bass Bonanza when I first installed it. It looked like one of those bright, splashy tap games that you play once and forget. A few weeks later it is still on my phone, and I think I finally understand why.

The appeal is the total lack of friction. You open it, you tap, and things happen on screen with cheerful animations and a fisherman who clearly loves his job. There is no long tutorial, no menu maze, nothing to figure out. In portrait mode it fits perfectly for one-handed play, which is exactly what I want when I am waiting somewhere.

On the practical side, Big Bass Bonanza is kind to your hardware. It ran smoothly on my old test phone, stayed cool, and barely touched the battery over a long session. The only thing I changed in settings was lowering the sound, because those water splashes get loud.

It is not a game you will sink hours into at once, and it does not try to be. As a five-minute palate cleanser between heavier games, though, it does its job better than most. Sometimes simple really is enough.
